“Please Hold The Line… The 4 Little Words That We Always Hate to Hear”

If you’re driven up the wall by being put on hold then you are not alone.

A recent British impatience study revealed that holding on the phone was up there with traffic jams, waiting for a bus, slow people creating a long line-up, tailgaters, stepping in chewing gum and doggy do-do, as well as people talking loudly on their mobile phones or eating with their mouth open.

With the majority of what we want now just a click away, it’s no wonder people are feeling frustrated when having to wait for anything!

Other frustrating time-wasters were identified as having a flight delayed, being stuck at home waiting for a delivery to show up, waiting to be seen by a doctor or dentist and friends being late for social engagements.

In today’s fast-paced world, our time comes at an absolute premium. If you’re putting callers on-hold…and what successful business doesn’t…make sure you minimize the wait and make that wait interesting with valuable information and uplifting music – the time will seem shorter and, if they’ve learned something new, the caller will feel it has not been wasted.
