family day

Having a long weekend in the middle of winter is a great moral booster and a bit of a reprieve from the winter blahs. If you’re in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Ontario, this Monday is Family Day. What do you have planned? If your family is fortunate enough to get a paid holiday on Family Day, make the most of it! Enjoy your time off with family and friends.  Continue a tradition, or create a new one, but plan a fun activity for everyone. Cities and towns will have many events and activities for families to do, so be sure to check them out.

Why is it important to participate in family traditions?

  • Provides a source of identity. It’s a way to teach kids their family culture and/or religious history.
  • Strengthen the family bond. It is a natural way to engage in face-to-face interaction to help build strong bonds.
  • Offer comfort and security. Traditions are steadfast in an ever changing world.
  • Create lasting memories. It gives kids positive memories of their childhood that they will most likely pass on to their children.
